Alteryx Convert String To Date

I am having trouble converting date string to datetime in SSIS. The problem is that the source data store dates in this format: m(m)/d(d)/yyyy, i.e. 3/8/2014, 10/5/2013, 12/22/2014. I have already tried to use data conversion and it won't work. Also I have checked data quality and they are all good - no weird strings.

To convert a string to Date , we have to perform the following steps: Include a quot;Data Conversionquot; Data flow component. Right-Click, Display Advanced Editor. Open Input and Output Properties. Open the custom properties, fix custom properties to be true. Ensure that data type is fixed to database date [DT_DBDATE].

This approach will work if your string is always the same length and format, and it works from the end of the string to the start to produce a value in this format: YYYYMMDD HH:MM:SS. For this, you don't need to separate the date portion in anyway, as SQL Server will be able to understand it as it's formatted.

String processing. Use a Regular Expression or similar formula to extract the part you want. Date Processing. Convert it into a standard Alteryx date and the format it back as a string . This could be done in a single formula tool, or multiple Date tools. Attached is a module that demostrates both techniques.

Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string . To fix this we need to specify the format the string is in. We do this by passing the appropriate integer value as an argument to the style parameter e.g. SELECT CONVERT ( DATE , '31/12/2013', 103) Refer to CAST and CONVERT (Transact-SQL) for a full list of style codes.

Hi i have string format (201901) from source and want to convert into date field . I tried to use both datetime tool and formula tool but of no use. i want to convert (201901) string to 2019-01-01 DATE format. Please let me know if anyone come across the solution for this.

The concatenated string is then turned into a date data type. The to_ date conversion function takes the pattern string YYYYMM and since the day information is missing, it makes it up on the fly and sets the day to the first day of the month. This to_ date conversion also checks for that only valid dates are created.

As mentioned earlier, Alteryx cannot sort months in a chronological order simply because it can’t understand that the “ Date ” field represents a date .
