Even the Superchips programmer will boost the hp and torque a little on a stock engine. When I bought mine, superchips had dyno charts posted that showed a 12 hp increase and about 15 ft. lbs torque increase across the rpm range. And my buttometer determined that was about right. The improvement in throttle response was very noticeable.

The vanes in the torque converter are mounted on pivots with a cam type level attached to each vane. The fluid acts with another servo in the converter to change the pitch of the vanes, increasing the stall speed to 2200rpm. You basically have a converter with a street stall or a race stall,with the flip of a switch!

Looks like you're progressing right along with the tranny swap. I like TCI and Hughes since I've done the most research on those manufacturer's. I currently run the Hughes GM25 with a 2500 advertised stall. This will vary depending on engine specs including your cam . Hughes was very helpful in matching a torque converter to my setup.

Nah, but I will be filling up with e85 today I think. I do want a cam without having to go with a torque converter . Apparently an LS1 can quietly put on 100rwhp with the stock exhaust manifolds and catback by switching to the CheatR cam , porting the intake manifold and throttle body, and something else (I think).

Running it along with ported heads, ported intake manifold, long tubes, 87mm tb and 3.55 gears. After a lot of tuning, it has tons of torque all through the powerband up to 6800rpm. I got the cam when I didnt have ported heads with upgraded valves amp; springs so I am also looking for a larger cam , only if it won't result in a loss of low end torque .
