Needed a new compression tester for bigger engines and auto engines. After a little research i picked up the Innova 3612. I specifically chose this one because it has the Schrader valve at tbe very end of the spark plug adapter. Like my small engine compression tester . Using both of these in the same 90cc chainsaw the readings are the same.

The bad news is that a compression tester needs a one-way valve at the plug adaptor. Typically, it's a schrader valve . I figured I'd just braze a slug of brass into the plug adaptor and thread it for the schrader core. No dice. I don't have any taps that match the core, or thread more than one or two threads into the valve stem before jamming.

Part of the compression gauge variability is the Schrader valve . gauge readings is the length of the tube or the number of cc’s of air space between the spark plug threads and the gauge . The Schrader valve could be a factor if the amount of air pressure required to open it is different between valves .
