you still have to pull the ac pulley bearing and then remove the coil. then after the coil is installed the pulley and bearing assembly have to be installed. the tricky part is doing that without screwing up the compressor shaft or seal, takes special tools. I would also recommend the fsm as it shows the proper procedures.

It is a separate issue from the A/C compressor noise. I have noticed a situation where my LS Cruze tends to do the opposite of what your's is doing.

Ok I have a 2002 Gmc sierra 2500 HD crew cab. Been having some issues with my a/c lately and finally came to the conclusion that I am going to swap out my ac compressor with a new one. My father in law owns a body shop so i have access to a pumping system to remove all the freon in the truck and replace it all when I'm finished.

386 Posts. #2 #183; Aug 27, 2018. Only show this user. I was quoted anywhere between $1500 and $2500 to have the system replaced. Shop said it depends on what all they have to replace . It’s like a 8 hour book job just replace the compressor from what I have seen.

I have replaced 3 ac clutch bearings this year 1 toyota 1 honda and 1 gm and although I needed special tools on for the gm unit Auto zone has them in there loan a toll program . So if and I do mean IF your ac compressor is locking up as long as you still have your proper air gap and you do not turn on the ac system you are not putting any

The bearing on my sons truck a/c compressor was starting to get loose and grumble so we decided to change it, his compressor works great the a/c is ice cold, he has had the truck 4 years and their is no freon leaks, the clutch works perfectly so we decided to change the bearing , I did one of these 20+ years ago and it was no big deal.
