1997 GMC C1500. Air Conditioning problem. 1997 GMC C1500 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic. The clutch on the compressor will not engage. I have checked the fuses @ the a/c relay. I have taken the dash control switch unit out. The a/c on button seems to engage ok but in the past I have had to push several times to start the a/c.

Started with hissing noise from rear cargo area every time the compressor would kick on. Then started not getting cold air then snowflake would blink 3 times and turn off. Air condition compressor is leaking . Air conditioner is blowing hot air. Have seen multiple reports on the same issue. Also there is a class action suit on this issue. No need to start my own thread. Got a 99 k1500 doing the exact same thing. With a pressure gauge hooked up to the low pressure side, I noticed when the compressor turns on the pressure is good but then immediately begins to drop. When it gets below 20 the compressor turns off. Pressure builds back to normal and it kicks back on again.
