The Waves compressor sounded OK in the verse, but compared to the others, it sounded a bit flat in the chorus. The TK Audio BC1 had the most open and dynamic sound during the verse, and during the chorus it had a warm and smooth mid-range. The GSSL colored the low end and low-mid, and lost some definition in the mid-range, but still sounded OK.

The compressor is cloned from our good old SSL4044E desk, dating back from ’85. The SSL mixbus compressor is an integral part of the mixer’s main quad fader and autofade system – cards 82E26 and 82E27, and as you can see if you compare these to my schematic, a series of changes have been made for rehousing the circuit.

Anyway, for what it's worth, there is nothing quot;wrongquot; or quot;missingquot; from the GSSL clone. it is EXACTLY the same circuit as the ssl4k's compressor . The parts that have been removed or altered are for other bits and pieces not relevant to the compressor (such as the SSL's auto fade out circuit and adding balanced inputs and outputs).

Gyraf SSL Compressor : A hardware SSL 4000 series bus compressor clone. I'm not exactly sure which model, whether it be E or G series.
