Judging by head flow alone, stock LS6 heads could potentially produce about 5 percent more power than stock LS1 heads, and maybe a bit more because of the smaller combustion chamber's bump in compression . The LS6's hollow valve stems give the heads a bit more high rpm potential, and the sodium-filled valves can stand up a bit better in

The LSA cam with a duration of 198º @ .050" would be asking for disaster in a 10.7:1 CR LS3! The LS9 cam with a 211º @ .050" would be able to tolerate more boost and be less detonation prone. (the stock LS3 cam is 204º @ .050").

The horsepower rating for LS1 varied greatly depending on the specific car model that the engine came in. In the Corvette offering, the LS1 was introduced in 1997 with 345 horsepower at 5600 RPM and 350 lb-ft at 4400 RPM. In 2001 the power and torque were increased slightly to 350 horsepower at 6000 RPM and 360 lb-ft of torque at 4000 RPM.
The LS1 engine is 5.7 L, or more precisely 346 cubic inches. This is only slightly smaller than its predecessor which came in at 350 cubic inches, which was also rounded off to 5.7L. The LS1 was designed with a bore of 3.90 inches and a stroke of 3.62 inches.
The VC-Turbo engine offers any compression ratio between 8:1 (for high performance, left in red) and 14:1 (for high efficiency, right in blue). As a result, the engine capacity varies between 1,997 cc and 1,970 cc.
