Compression is good in cylinders 1 & 3, but there is ZERO compression in #2. We used a borescope to look into the cylinder and found that there was a lot of carbon built up on the piston head. The piston still moves with no metal-on-metal, grinding, or other bad sounding noises when the engine is turned over.

I have an 08 6.4 with 6months left on 5yr warranty 86k miles. truck has been good so far. #5 has no compression , the other cylinders are low around 300 or so. they are saying the engine is dusted and they are not wanting to cover this.

https://www.3si.org/threads/no-compression-in-cylinders-2-4-6.471989/page-2Reasons for No Compression in All Cylinders. 1. Broken Timing Belt or Chain: Every car engine needs a timing belt or chain to keep the camshaft in correlation with the crankshaft. When these parts fail the camshaft stops turning which causes the intake and exhaust valve not to open and close.
If you experience low compression on all cylinders, it may be caused by a faulty camshaft timing belt or chain , but it could also be caused by a previously wrong installed belt or chain. The timing belt or chain uses the rotation of the crankshaft and transfers power to the camshaft to control the valves' opening times.
Low compression readings in adjacent cylinders are typically a sign of a blown head gasket. If every cylinder returns low compression levels, it could be an indication of worn-out rings and cylinders.
How to Fix Low Compression in One Cylinder. The first step to repair is to be sure that the compression in one of the engine cylinders is actually low. Use a compression gauge to check the measurement. In case you don’t have one, take the car to an auto servicing shop so that a mechanic can do the testing.
