Office 2010 can read Strict Open XML documents. In my opinion, if we create a Strict Open XML documents in Office2013/2016, then save it by Office 2010 . The file format would be changed into Transitional Open XML document. So if it is in Compatibility mode, the file should be Transitional.

A notable difference between the Strict and the Transitional file format is that  legacy techniques  for protecting workbooks and their contents are not allowed in XLSX Strict .
