For full compatibility , an update of the lens firmware is required for older Tamron Models. Newer Models are shipped with compatible firmware.

The camera body must be 'f/8 compatible '; Tamron Customer Service undertook to have the information available on their website. I could replace my 7D with a 7D Mk2, but choose not to spend an additional $1,300.
