What is PPTM?

PPTM (PowerPoint Macro-Enabled Presentation) supports embedded VBA macros for automated slideshows, interactive elements, and dynamic content generation in PowerPoint.

What is XLSB?

XLSB (Excel Binary Workbook) stores spreadsheet data in a binary format rather than XML, offering faster load and save times for large, complex workbooks while preserving all formulas and formatting.

When Should You Use PPTM vs XLSB?

PPTM vs XLSB: Key Differences

• •PPTM and XLSB diverge on compression: lossless compression for the source, lossless compression for the target.
• •Since both PPTM and XLSB use lossless compression, the quality characteristics are comparable — differences in file size come down to how efficiently each format implements compression.
• •How transparency is handled: XLSB supports transparency, so alpha information is preserved during conversion.
• •File sizes: PPTM files typically range 500KB to 50MB with media and XLSB files 30-50% smaller than XLSX for equivalent data.
• •PPTM is optimized for interactive presentations, automated slide decks, business reporting while XLSB is designed for large enterprise spreadsheets, financial modeling, big data analysis — choose based on your specific workflow needs

Advantages of PPTM

• ✓From mobile devices to enterprise servers, PPTM is recognized and supported everywhere.
• ✓The trade-off for PPTM's perfection is larger files — but for archival work, it is worth every megabyte.
• ✓PPTM is a first-class citizen in all major software ecosystems, from creative suites to development environments.

Advantages of XLSB

• ✓At its core, XLSB relies on lossless encoding — a design choice that makes it perfect for Large enterprise spreadsheets, financial modeling, big data analysis.
• ✓You won't run into compatibility issues with XLSB — it's a universal standard across platforms.
• ✓File size management with XLSB: larger files guaranteed to match the original exactly.
