When Should You Use WPD vs PPT?

WPD vs PPT: Key Differences

• •WPD uses lossy compression while PPT uses lossy compression — both take the same approach to file size management.
• •Neither format changes compression philosophy — both are lossy compression — so any size differences are due to encoding efficiency, not a shift in quality approach.
• •How transparency is handled: PPT does not support alpha channels — transparent areas in the source will become opaque.
• •WPD files are typically 50KB to 5MB while PPT files range 100KB to 30MB
• •Primary audience: WPD is built for legacy word processing, legal documents scenarios, while PPT focuses on legacy presentations, older systems — pick the format that matches your output requirement.
